By Whom ? Why? How? When ?
Aaaah, this one was a strange one, a delightfully strange
one that is. Hard to define,
but played out like a mix of a Spanish Nouvelle Vague movie (if there's
such a genre)
and an Iberian proto Giallo. Arty, surrealistic, somewhat funny and
with a crime
mystery to be solved. It's enigmatic too and perhaps maybe even a Sci-Fi.
Very unusual and I loved it (but I know many do not) maybe due to the
insanely
cute (more than beautiful) model Teresa
Gimpera in her film debut.
The film starts with a disoriented WTF intro, and I
love those, it captures your
attention. In a cartoon an agent accepts a mission. Then we see a man
running, it's
Agent JJ (Marcos Martiz), and a woman dumps her husband as he's listening
to
a tape talking about the neccessity of killing something that is beautiful.
He's the
weird Professor.
Then we see a beautiful woman, Gim (Gimpera)
walking the street and being
stalked by every man she sees and even by a horny truck too (some sort
of a
military or police vehicle). To her friend Alvaro (Alberto Dalbés)
she says that she's
frightened and he is too, he says. Miriam (Mariane Benet) plays his
girlfriend.
The weird professor lectures people about a series of murders where
beautiful
people have been killed, and he says Gim is the next to be murdered.
The running
man asks a relevant question regarding Gim: "By Whom ? Why? How?
When?"
The film is presented widescreen 1.85:1 ratio with Spanish
audio DTS-HD 2.0
with english subtitles. Extras:
Audio commentary by Rachel Nisbet (with a nasty British
accent. She sounds
if she's puking and I had a hard time to understand what she said sometimes),
Interview with Teresa Gimpera (24 minutes, Spanish with english subs),
Interview with Angel Sala (19 minutes, 2023), Alternate opening sequence
