Totally unique Mexican horror movies where the makers take use of their own colorful and ancient pre-spanish history
to present to us the Aztec Mummy in all it's threatening and rottening splendour. Filmed on the historical scene at the
old pyramids of Teotihuacán. Three Portillo quickies all filmed in 1957 with the first being somewhat atmospherical and
the two sequels being more trashy, but all of them very entertaining as .... Mexican Horror Rules, we all know that !

Doctor Eduardo Almada (Ramón Gay) has elaborated on his theory of regression to previous lives by a method of hypnosis.
His fiancée Flora (Rosita Arenas) volunteers to the experiment whereby she is reincarnated as the priestess Xochitl in
Tenoxtitlan where she is about to be a human sacrifice to the God Tezkatlipoka for her illicit affair with the warrior Popoca.
Both of them were condemned to death and Popoca was burned alive.

Two pieces of jewellery on Xochitl's breast gives a clue to an Aztec treasure, and Dr. Almada is searching for their burial
chamber to prove his theory and grab the valuables, but he's warned for the magic of the ancient aztecs and the maldicion
that hits you if you disturb the dead. But who listens, and soon Popoca the Mummy is re-animated and out for a kill.

These quickie lowbudget mummy movies were reportedly shot in a couple of weeks and even though trashy they have some quite
unique atmosphere to them ... at times. This film is the sequel to La Momia Azteca and continues the story of the first film, where
the evil Doctor Krupp or The Bat, his Super villain alias, has been caught but is freed by his underlings.

The Bat is after the Aztec jewels and his gang kidnaps Flora and Mr. Bat plans to use hypnosis on her to make her tell him where
the treasure, the aztec jewels, are located, and she must know this as she's re-incarnated as the priestess Xochitl.
El Murcielago - The Bat or Doctor Krupp (Luis Aceves Castañeda) is aided by bandits in his quest for the Aztec jewellery on
Xochitl's corpse, but he's opposed by Dr. Almada, his kid brother Pepe, his assistant Pinacate (Crox Alvarado) and .... The Mummy
himself, Popoca who's guarding Xochitl's tomb. Will they manage to free Flora (Rosita Arenas) ?

The Third and final film in the Popoca and Xochitl vs. grave robbers saga. Dr. Almada (Ramón Gay) is now married to the maltreated
Flora (Rosita Arenas), who under hypnosis can be re-incarnated to the Aztec priestess Xochitl once sacrificed to the ancient gods
and with her ex-lover and mummy warrior Popoca guarding her tomb.
Dr. Almada tells his dinner guests about what happened in film 1-2, and he does this with 20 minutes Flashbacks from these films,
well that's a way to pad out the playing time.

The evil Dr. Krupp - The Bat somehow escaped his death by vipers in film 2 and he now, yet again, kidnaps poor Flora to reveal
for him where the Aztec jewels are hidden. Well, he has to deal with the rough mummy Popoca naturally and after being badly beaten
by the grumpy warrior mummy before he now creates a Humanoid Robot to fight the mummy. With a human brain and with limbs
of steel Dr. Krupp hopes for the best this time. Hey! With all his trouble shouldn't the evil doctor earn some jewels finally ?

On a sidenote: Please notice that this funny humanoid robot of The Bat in La Momia Azteca Contra El Robot Humano made a
return as the alien robot Thor in the 1960 psychotronic film masterpiece "La Nave de los Monstruos" one of the greatest films

Supposedly this Aztec Mummy film trilogy were shot within 2 months and each film in a couple of weeks. Low budget indie film
making at it's best. Yes, Mexico for sure knew how to make these horror films snappy and entertaining. The people involved in
making them must have had a great time. What was the producers and script writers going on ? All this beautiful craziness.
